NMA demands apology from EFCC over assault on UUTH prof, threaten N1bn lawsuit

The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has formally requested a public apology from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following an incident involving the alleged assault of a professor at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH). The NMA characterized the actions of the EFCC as having inflicted physical, emotional, professional, and institutional harm on its members. In addition to the apology, the association has threatened to initiate legal proceedings seeking damages amounting to N1 billion. The situation has raised significant concerns within the medical community regarding the treatment of healthcare professionals by law enforcement agencies.
