The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) reported that during internal operations conducted from May 8 to 14, 2026, troops successfully rescued 63 individuals who had been kidnapped. In these operations, 16 terrorists were killed, and 14 others, including collaborators and logistics couriers, were apprehended. The operations, however, resulted in the loss of three soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Major General Michael Onoja, the director of defence media operations, provided these details in an official statement.
