The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has initiated an appeal regarding a judgment issued by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on May 5, 2026. This ruling awarded ₦100 million in damages to officials of the Department of State Services (DSS). SERAP has characterized the judgment as a “travesty” and is seeking a stay of execution pending the outcome of the appeal. The organization aims to challenge the legal basis of the award and its implications for accountability and freedom of expression in Nigeria.
