The Taliban has introduced a new family law decree in Afghanistan, which stipulates that the silence of a "virgin girl" may be interpreted as consent for marriage. This regulation, comprising 31 articles and titled ‘Principles of Separation Between Spouses’, has been approved by Taliban supreme leader Hibatullah Akhundzada. The decree details various aspects of family law, including provisions related to marriages involving minors, annulments, and the authority vested in male family members.
