The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed that the operation resulting in the death of ISIS commander Abu Bilal Al-Minuki was conducted solely by Nigerian troops, with no involvement from foreign soldiers. Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized that while the United States contributed through intelligence and surveillance support, the mission was executed entirely by local forces. He highlighted the professionalism of the Nigerian military, noting that there were no casualties among their ranks during the operation. Furthermore, Onoja clarified that earlier reports regarding Al-Minuki's death were incorrect, as he had been a high-value target known for using multiple aliases to avoid capture, and he was listed on various international watchlists.
