The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted significant consignments of cocaine and opioids that were concealed within cartons of clothing and other items intended for shipment to the United Kingdom and Australia. According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the seizures took place during inspections of outbound shipments at a courier company in Lagos on Friday, resulting in the confiscation of 170 grams of cocaine and various opioids, including 200 ampoules of pentazocine injection and 1,100 capsules of tramadol. Additionally, the agency conducted multiple raids across several states, leading to the destruction of 65,000 kilograms of skunk in Delta State and the recovery of 361 kilograms of skunk in Kaduna State, among other arrests and seizures in locations such as Ogun, Taraba, Oyo, Edo, and Kano. The NDLEA emphasized that these operations, which involved collaboration with military personnel in certain areas, reflect its ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking networks throughout the country.
