Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon on Sunday resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a commander from the Islamic Jihad group, according to reports from Lebanese authorities and state media. The Lebanese health ministry released a preliminary toll indicating that three of the fatalities occurred in the town of Qusaya. This escalation comes amid a fragile ceasefire in the region, as Hezbollah has criticized ongoing US-brokered negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, labeling them a “dead end.”
