The Permanent Secretary for Special Services in the Office of the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Shehu Yahaya Jalam, has died in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage. He passed away in the early hours of Sunday after a brief illness while part of the Bauchi State contingent. Governor Bala Mohammed, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, expressed deep sorrow over Jalam's death, highlighting his dedication and significant contributions to the state, particularly in coordinating Hajj operations. The funeral prayer for Jalam was held at the Holy Mosque of the Ka’aba in Makkah, and condolences were extended to his family, colleagues, and the wider community affected by his passing.
