The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited Oyo State over the weekend in response to a recent terrorist attack and abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area that occurred on May 15, 2026. During his visit, he conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and condemned the attack, emphasizing the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to restoring normalcy in the affected communities. The IGP held discussions with the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Olugbenga, and other security stakeholders, receiving updates on ongoing rescue operations and security measures being implemented. Additionally, the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, alongside local hunters and vigilantes, has initiated coordinated search efforts in nearby forests, while the police have mobilized resources for a manhunt aimed at apprehending the perpetrators and ensuring the safe return of the abducted individuals.
