Oluwabukola Pereira, a Nigerian athlete and graduate student, was fatally shot in the United States just days before her scheduled graduation from Xavier University with a Master of Business Administration degree. The incident occurred on May 8 at Arise Auto Center, where she worked, during what appears to have been an attempted robbery. Witnesses reported that Pereira pursued a suspect who had stolen approximately $1,500 before she was shot. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the case, with a suspect described as a man aged between 25 and 35, who was last seen fleeing toward Gardner Park. Pereira was remembered by her university and family as a dedicated individual with a strong spirit, actively involved in athletics and community service, and was set to marry later this year.
