The International Organization for Migration has released its latest update on the emergency mobility tracking and cross-border monitoring situation in the Syrian Arab Republic as of 18 May 2026. Following a ceasefire in Lebanon on 17 April 2026, the rate of displacement from Lebanon into Syria has decreased, with a total of 333,856 movements recorded at the Syrian-Lebanese border. The majority of these movements involved Syrian nationals, while a small percentage were Lebanese nationals, with some transiting onward to Jordan. Despite the decline in displacement, returnees face significant reintegration challenges, including inadequate housing, difficulties in educational integration, and limited livelihood opportunities, leading to increased vulnerability among the affected populations.
