The Kano State Ministry of Education has officially announced a holiday for Eid-el-Kabir, applicable to all public and private primary and secondary schools within the state. According to a statement released by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Misbahu Yakasai, boarding schools will close on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and will reopen on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Day schools are scheduled to begin their break on Friday, May 22, 2026, with classes resuming on Monday, June 1, 2026. The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, has encouraged parents and guardians to ensure the timely collection and return of their children from boarding schools, while also wishing the entire education community a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
