Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has identified financial inducement as a significant threat to the democratic process in Nigeria. His remarks were made during the official publication of the voters' register and the presentation to political parties in Ado-Ekiti, in preparation for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026, in Ekiti State. During this event, INEC announced that the voters' register now comprises 1,059,360 eligible voters. The commission's efforts aim to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process amidst concerns over electoral integrity.
