Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has identified financial inducement as a significant threat to the democratic process in Nigeria. His remarks were made during the official publication of the voters' register and the presentation to political parties in Ado-Ekiti, in preparation for the upcoming governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026, in Ekiti State. During this event, INEC announced that the voters' register now comprises 1,059,360 eligible voters.
