Residents of Dei-Dei, Byazhin, and Kubwa communities in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory have voiced their dissatisfaction with the ongoing issue of inflated estimated electricity bills imposed by electricity distribution companies. In interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), they reported a continuous increase in their electricity charges, which they find unjustifiable. The affected residents are now calling for the installation of prepaid meters to ensure accurate billing and better management of their electricity consumption. This demand reflects a growing concern over the financial burden placed on households due to the current billing practices.
