Alhaji Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State and a prominent member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has attributed the ongoing insecurity in Northern Nigeria to inadequate leadership and a decline in moral values. In an interview with Premier Radio Kano, he emphasized that the responsibility for the region's security challenges lies with the northerners themselves, who must address the issues of discipline and upbringing among the youth. Lamido criticized political leaders for prioritizing political ambitions over their fundamental duty to safeguard lives and property, asserting that many of the individuals involved in insurgency and banditry are from the North. He also advocated for the establishment of state police, provided that they receive proper training and guidance, and highlighted the importance of justice and fairness in restoring peace and stability in the region.
