The Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has achieved a significant legal victory with the conviction of two former bank employees, Obadofin Daniel Bamise and Hadiza Oyiza Yakubu. Both individuals were sentenced by Justice A.A. Bello of the Kaduna State High Court for theft, having pleaded guilty to separate charges involving unauthorized withdrawals from customer accounts at Access Bank Plc. Obadofin was found guilty of stealing N433,000, while Yakubu was convicted for taking N806,000, both amounts belonging to the bank. The court imposed a seven-year prison sentence on each convict, with the option to pay a fine of N50,000, and investigations revealed that their actions resulted in unauthorized withdrawals totaling N7,842,700 from accounts linked to beneficiaries of the federal government’s Palliative Scheme.
