MTN, Airtel, Glo, and other telecommunications companies in Nigeria are reportedly incurring expenses of approximately ₦72 billion monthly on diesel fuel. This expenditure is attributed to the challenges posed by inconsistent electricity supply in the country, which necessitates the reliance on diesel generators to maintain operations. The high cost of diesel has raised concerns among industry stakeholders regarding the sustainability of such expenses in the long term. The information was disclosed by industry analysts during a recent report on the operational costs faced by telecom providers in Nigeria.
