The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has released an operational update detailing its activities in the Central African Republic (CAR) from January to March 2026. The agency emphasizes a protection-focused approach amidst ongoing security challenges and the effects of the crisis in Sudan. Key initiatives include emergency response efforts and the promotion of durable solutions for refugees, particularly through facilitating the safe and dignified return of Central African nationals while ensuring their sustainable reintegration. In collaboration with the Government of CAR and other partners, UNHCR is also providing essential protection and multisectoral assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, including those from Chad and Sudan, aligning its efforts with national development strategies and priorities.
