The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed concern over the restricted access to Nasir el-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna, currently detained at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) facility in Abuja. El-Rufai has been in custody since February 19 due to allegations of financial impropriety during his governorship from 2015 to 2023. A delegation from the ADC, led by Rauf Aregbesola and Salihu Lukman, reported being denied access to el-Rufai despite prior communication and formal requests. The ADC's national publicity secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, criticized the heavy police presence at the facility, suggesting it created an intimidating atmosphere and raised concerns about the treatment of opposition figures within state institutions.
