Yusuf Tuggar, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been defeated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the governorship ticket in Bauchi State for the 2027 elections. The results, announced on Saturday by John Abang, the chairman of the APC governorship and house of assembly primary committee, revealed that Mohammed Abubakar, a former governor of the state, secured the ticket with 57,517 votes. Tuggar finished in second place with 26,001 votes, while other aspirants Nura Manu Soro, Bala Wunti, and Kabir Ma’aji received 13,638, 13,648, and 8,157 votes, respectively. Abang confirmed that the results were compiled from the primary election conducted across the state, officially designating Abubakar as the party's candidate for the upcoming election.
