The Gemini North Telescope, located on Mauna Kea in Hawaii, has successfully captured a striking image of a dying star, showcasing its final stages. This celestial object is part of a binary star system situated approximately 1,500 light-years from Earth and is commonly referred to as the Crystal Ball Nebula. The National Science Foundation’s NOIRLab, which manages the telescope, released the image on Thursday, highlighting the beauty of this astronomical phenomenon as it approaches the end of its life cycle.
