Thai police conducted a raid on a luxury condominium in Nonthaburi province, resulting in the arrest of six Nigerian nationals suspected of operating a romance scam network. The operation, named “Dark Room Crackdown,” targeted foreign criminal networks involved in suspicious financial activities, leading to the seizure of 18 mobile phones, three laptops, and bank books containing evidence of the alleged scams. The suspects, aged between 23 and 35, were found to have overstayed their visas significantly and were living together despite holding student visas, with no evidence of attending classes or legitimate employment. They are accused of defrauding victims, primarily older Thai women, by posing as professionals and manipulating them into sending money under the pretext of customs fees for overseas parcels.
