The World Health Organization (WHO) has elevated the national risk assessment for the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to "very high" in response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak. Currently, there are 82 confirmed cases and seven reported deaths attributed to the virus; however, WHO officials indicate that the actual number of infections may be significantly higher, with nearly 750 suspected cases. Despite the heightened risk in the DRC, the global risk associated with the outbreak remains classified as "low." The UN is intensifying its response efforts to contain the spread of the virus and mitigate its impact on public health.
