Stanley Osifo emerged as the only candidate contesting against President Bola Tinubu during the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held on Saturday. A 50-year-old politician from Oluku Ward in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Osifo has a solid educational background, having attended Payne Primary School and Edokpolo Grammar School in Benin City, followed by Lagos State University, where he earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Christian Religious Studies. His political career began with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2018, and he later sought to participate in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries in 2019 before joining the APC in 2022. In 2026, he acquired the APC's ₦100 million expression of interest and nomination forms, successfully passed the party's screening process, and positioned himself as the sole challenger to the incumbent president in the primary election.
