A young man identified as Qawiyu from Ibaragun has been apprehended by the Nigeria Police for falsely raising an alarm about a bandit attack in Ogun State. In custody, he admitted that his intention was to create a viral video to attract followers on TikTok. He explained that he recruited a local Fulani herdsman to appear in the video, despite initial reluctance, and recorded the content with the help of his apprentice. Qawiyu has since requested forgiveness from the authorities, citing the need to support his business, as he mentioned that clothes for his Ileya customers remain unsold in his shop.
