The price of cooking gas in Nigeria has surged to N1,500 per kilogram, prompting concerns from the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) regarding a potential crisis due to supply shortages. The depot price for a 20 metric ton shipment has reached N26 million, exacerbating the situation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that rely on affordable gas for operations. NALPGAM has cautioned that these developments could lead to the shutdown of many SMEs and undermine the federal government's efforts to promote clean energy initiatives across the country.
