The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has announced an escalation of surveillance and emergency preparedness measures in response to the rising Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Although Nigeria has not reported any confirmed cases related to this regional outbreak, the NCDC has identified a high risk of importation due to international travel and population movement. The agency has activated the National Emergency Operations Centre and the National Incident Management System to coordinate response efforts, while enhancing monitoring at border communities and major transport hubs. Additionally, the NCDC is distributing Ebola preparedness tools to healthcare facilities and conducting refresher training for health workers to ensure readiness in the event of a suspected case.
