The Government of Tonga and the Tonga Red Cross Society have reported a total of 66 confirmed cases of dengue fever since the last update, which includes two new cases. The demographic distribution of the cases remains consistent, with the majority occurring in males aged 11 to 14 years, primarily on Tongatapu Island. Currently, two individuals are hospitalized due to the illness, one at Princess Fusipala Hospital in Ha’apai and the other at Niu’eiki Hospital in ‘Eua. There have been no reported fatalities related to dengue fever, and the circulating strain has been identified as dengue virus serotype 2 (DENV-2).
