The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported a significant escalation in violence and humanitarian challenges in the occupied Palestinian territory as of May 25, 2026. Over the past week, more than 50 attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank resulted in casualties and extensive property damage, including arson incidents affecting homes, farmland, and a mosque. In eastern Jerusalem, concerns have heightened regarding the potential forced displacement of hundreds of Palestinians following calls from the Israeli Finance Minister to enforce demolition orders in Khan al Ahmar. Meanwhile, in Gaza, humanitarian partners have initiated a pest-control campaign across 1,700 locations, although their efforts are hampered by ongoing shortages and restrictions on aid delivery, with only half of the aid trucks from Egypt able to offload at the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom Crossing during the first half of May.
