Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, a former senator representing Kano South, has been unsuccessful in his attempt to secure the party's nomination for the upcoming 2027 elections. The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has chosen Alkasim Ibrahim Batayya, the former National Chairman of the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), as its candidate for the senatorial seat. Gaya's recent defection to the NDC did not yield the desired outcome, as he now faces the challenge of Batayya's nomination in the political landscape of Kano South.
