The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has raised concerns that the federal government may not meet its deadline for implementing direct-to-consumer alcohol sales across the country. Currently, this service is only operational in two provinces, despite an agreement among nearly all provinces and territories to enable it by the end of May 2026. Direct-to-consumer sales would allow customers to order alcohol products directly from producers, enhancing accessibility and convenience for consumers nationwide. The CFIB's statement underscores the urgency for the federal government to take action to fulfill this commitment.
