Grant Bandits Amnesty Like Repentant Boko Haram...Sheikh Gumi

Ahmad Gumi, an Islamic cleric based in Kaduna, has called on the federal government to consider offering amnesty to armed bandits, similar to the rehabilitation process for repentant Boko Haram members. During a press conference at his residence on Monday, Gumi emphasized the need to listen to the bandits, who he claims are willing to surrender but fear retribution after disarming. He argued that a shift in strategy is necessary, suggesting that the current military approach has been ineffective for 17 years. Gumi urged the government to explore alternative methods to address the ongoing security challenges posed by banditry in the region.
