Abacha's Son Loses Kano Governorship Ticket

In the recent primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State, Muhammad Dalhatu has been declared the party's governorship candidate after securing 2,233 votes, defeating Mohammed Abacha, the son of the late General Sani Abacha, who garnered 749 votes. The results were announced by Umar Hadejia, the Chairman of the PDP Kano State Governorship Primary Election Committee, who confirmed that the election was conducted peacefully and adhered to the party’s constitutional and electoral guidelines. Hadejia praised the cooperation of all participants, including aspirants, delegates, party officials, and security agencies, and called for unity among party members to ensure success in the upcoming general elections. Mohammed Abacha, who previously contested for the party's ticket in 2023 and lost, has a history of running for governorship positions, including his candidacy with the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance in the 2019 elections.
