Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the representative for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, has expressed concerns regarding alleged efforts to deregister significant opposition political parties in anticipation of the 2027 elections. During a press conference held in Abuja, Ugochinyere cautioned that such actions could undermine the democratic process and called for vigilance among political stakeholders. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a competitive political landscape in Nigeria and urged authorities to refrain from any measures that could threaten the existence of these parties.
