Achievers University in Owo has reported the discovery of a significant fee payment fraud amounting to approximately N457.5 million, affecting 320 students. The university identified Olanike Mary Asabia, an alumna and former employee of the Bursary Unit, as the alleged mastermind behind the scheme, which involved directing students to pay their fees into her personal account while falsely clearing them on the university's portal. An internal audit also implicated 11 staff members and 34 students as collaborators, who were reportedly recruited to assist in the fraudulent activities, alongside one external individual associated with the Federal Medical Centre in Owo. The principal suspect is currently under police investigation, while affected students and implicated staff members are set to face disciplinary actions as the university continues its internal review and cooperates with law enforcement.
