The International Rescue Committee (IRC) and the LEGO Foundation have announced a significant partnership aimed at enhancing early learning for over five million children impacted by conflict and crisis in East Africa and the Middle East. This five-year initiative, backed by a $97 million investment, will integrate play-based learning into national education and health systems, addressing the developmental challenges faced by children in these regions. The program will focus on strengthening educational systems for school-aged children and scaling early childhood development approaches for younger children, ensuring holistic support from pregnancy through early schooling. The partnership is designed to be sustainable and impactful, leveraging existing local systems and evidence-based models to provide continuous support even during crises.
