Accord factions hold parallel guber primaries in Oyo as Olakunle Busari, Oriyomi Hamzat claim victory

On Tuesday, two factions of the Accord political party in Oyo State conducted separate governorship primary elections, resulting in conflicting claims of victory. One faction announced Olakunle Busari, also known as "Gudugudu," as the winner, with Busari receiving 29,427 votes, while his opponent Oriyomi Hamzat secured 18,716 votes. The exercise was monitored by Adebukola Ajaja, the national secretary of the Accord, along with officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who confirmed the process was conducted fairly and peacefully. Meanwhile, the rival faction declared Hamzat the winner through social media, citing grassroots support, although they did not provide a detailed vote count. As of now, the national leadership of the party has not issued an official statement regarding the primary elections.
