Ibrahim Wala, a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has publicly condemned the party's recent presidential primary, labeling it a "brazen, shameless auction" that undermines democratic values. He expressed support for Rotimi Amaechi, a presidential aspirant and former Minister of Transportation, who rejected the primary results due to alleged deficiencies in transparency and fairness. In a statement on social media, Wala criticized the conduct of the primaries, asserting that it mirrored the vote-buying practices typically associated with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to disassociate himself from what he termed "dirty, concocted primary election results," warning that acceptance of these results could harm the party's reputation. The ADC, in response, has indicated that there is currently insufficient evidence to support claims of electoral malpractice, with results still under review.
