The World Health Organisation (WHO) announced on Wednesday that the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has recorded approximately 1,000 confirmed cases of Ebola, resulting in 220 fatalities. In addition, health authorities in neighbouring Uganda have identified seven confirmed cases associated with the outbreak, which include two healthcare workers and one reported death. WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus addressed the situation during a press briefing, highlighting the ongoing challenges posed by the outbreak in the region.
