The Global Centre for the Responsibility to Protect has issued Atrocity Alert No. 484, focusing on the alarming situation in Sudan, Israel, and the Occupied Palestinian Territory regarding the protection of civilians. In Sudan, the conflict has escalated with the increased use of drones in populated areas, leading to significant civilian casualties, including at least 30 deaths and over 60 injuries from recent attacks in North Darfur. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has reported that drone strikes accounted for a substantial majority of civilian deaths in the ongoing conflict, raising serious concerns about compliance with International Humanitarian Law. Meanwhile, reports of torture and ill-treatment of Palestinian detainees in Israeli facilities have intensified, with UN experts calling for urgent action to address these abuses and ensure the protection of civilians in armed conflict.
