The Sokoto State Government has announced its intention to introduce legislation aimed at imposing stricter penalties on individuals who act as informants for bandits and other criminal groups within the state. Governor Ahmed Aliyu revealed this initiative on Wednesday during a Sallah homage to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, coinciding with the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. The proposed law is part of the government's broader strategy to combat insecurity and enhance public safety in Sokoto.
