Cash held outside Nigeria's banking system decreased by N104.76 billion, bringing the total to N5.08 trillion between February and April 2026. This decline is attributed to the Central Bank of Nigeria's decision to reduce interest rates during its first Monetary Policy Committee meeting of the year. According to data from the CBN's money and credit statistics, the currency outside banks fell from N5.19 trillion in the previous period. The reduction in cash outside banks reflects the ongoing adjustments in the financial landscape influenced by monetary policy changes.
