The Federal Government has initiated consultations with state governments and regulatory agencies regarding the implementation of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Directive 2026. This directive specifically targets operators in the app-based transport, food delivery, and logistics sectors. The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment is overseeing these consultations through its Trade Union Services and Industrial Relations Department. As part of the directive, platforms such as Uber, Bolt, Glovo, and Chowdeck are required to enroll self-employed workers and independent contractors in mandatory health insurance schemes.
