Norway has announced a new agreement with the European Union aimed at enhancing Ukraine's energy security amid ongoing challenges posed by the conflict with Russia. The Norwegian government will allocate NOK 425 million, approximately EUR 40 million, to support the development of a more resilient energy system in Ukraine. This funding will focus on decentralized energy production, renewable energy initiatives, battery storage, and flexible local energy systems, addressing urgent needs for repairs, spare parts, and fuel. The initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure Ukraine can withstand the upcoming winter while progressing towards modernization and alignment with EU energy standards, with support being facilitated through the EU’s Ukraine Investment Framework.
