Abia State Governor Alex Otti inaugurated the newly completed Umuahia Central Bus Terminal on Wednesday, a multimodal transport facility aimed at enhancing urban transport in the state capital. The terminal has been named in honor of Prof. Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti, the first female Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, recognizing her integrity and commitment as the INEC returning officer during the 2023 governorship election. Governor Otti emphasized that the naming serves as a tribute not only to Prof. Oti but also to all individuals who upheld electoral integrity amidst challenges. The terminal is designed to accommodate over 340 buses and is part of a broader initiative to modernize the state's transport system, which will also include electric bus services to improve accessibility and efficiency.
