Senator David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has stated that the party's recent presidential primary has successfully illustrated the viability of democracy and political competition in Nigeria. This declaration was made during the official results announcement at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, where former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was declared the ADC's presidential candidate for the 2027 general election after securing 1,846,370 votes. Mark emphasized that the primary was not merely about selecting a candidate but also about showcasing that political processes can occur without conflict, highlighting the commitment of the party's members to uphold democratic principles. He acknowledged the efforts of the Presidential Screening Committee and the Primary Election Committee for their professionalism and transparency, as well as the participation of all aspirants, which he viewed as a testament to the party's dedication to internal democracy.
