The Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has expressed alarm regarding the rising costs associated with cargo clearance at Nigerian ports. According to the association, the expense for clearing a 20-foot container at Apapa Port in Lagos has surged to between N14 million and N15 million, a significant increase from the previous range of N7 million to N8 million observed in Cotonou, Benin Republic. IMAN highlighted the stark disparity in clearance costs between the two locations, raising concerns about the implications for trade and the overall economic environment in Nigeria.
