Political analyst and Research Professor at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Prof. Femi Otubanjo, has attributed the political challenges faced by Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara to his own actions and decisions. In light of the ongoing political crisis in the state, characterized by tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, Otubanjo indicated that Fubara's political manoeuvres since taking office have played a significant role in his current situation. He further suggested that Fubara may consider defecting to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) as he navigates the shifting political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections. Despite persistent speculation regarding his political future, Fubara has previously denied any intentions to leave his current party, reaffirming his commitment to its interests.
