Hostilities in Lebanon have escalated despite the announcement of a ceasefire extension, with airstrikes affecting at least 40 new localities in the southern region. As of 25 May 2026, approximately 129,724 individuals from 33,897 families remain displaced across 635 collective shelters, with women and girls constituting nearly 52 percent of those affected. The Ministry of Public Health reports that since 2 March, the conflict has resulted in 3,185 fatalities and 9,633 injuries, while access to healthcare, particularly maternal services, is severely limited, with many facilities either partially or fully non-operational. Additionally, a recent audit has highlighted significant protection risks in collective shelters, particularly for vulnerable groups, amidst ongoing funding challenges that hinder humanitarian assistance efforts.
