Crisis (IPC Phase 3) food insecurity is anticipated to persist in the conflict-affected divisions of Logone-et-Chari, Mayo-Sava, and Mayo-Tsanaga in Cameroon until September 2026, primarily due to poor harvest prospects and ongoing insecurity. The disruption of agricultural activities caused by recurrent violence has hindered household participation in land preparation, leading to below-average income from off-season crop sales and agricultural labor. As the June-August lean season approaches, an increase in the number of households facing Crisis outcomes is expected, with some households likely to experience Emergency (IPC Phase 4) conditions due to severely depleted coping capacities. Additionally, seasonal flooding beginning in July is projected to exacerbate displacement, further isolating affected households from essential food and income sources, while urban areas like Yaoundé and Douala are also expected to experience Stressed outcomes due to high food prices and limited livelihood opportunities.
